I built a new website!
I wanted a second home for my blogs, videos and links - to go along with my Substack. This new site will serve as a home base for everything I make. If it looks like it's from 2007 internet, that's intentional. I love simplicity, getting back to the basics.

I’m looking for feedback on my new site. Check out the different pages linked at the top. If you have any suggestions, leave a comment. Tell me what you like or don’t like.
Visit my Now page on my website to see what I’m up to. This page will change over time, as I update it periodically. Yes, it’s mostly a copy of this post today. Just had to spread the word here first!
What I’m up to now
I'm currently on a year-long sabbatical, using my savings to support myself while I travel and work on creative projects - my blog and my YouTube.
Last year I went to Europe for three months. I had no plans or itinerary, just my little backpack. I visited 10 countries. That was the pre-sabbatical before the now-sabbatical.
After working on television shoots for the last seven years, I experienced burnout for the first time. I made the radical decision (after months of careful consideration) to quit and slowly explore new work.
Locations
Now I'm bouncing in between Colorado and Tennessee. I had to go see my favorite team turn sports into art.
My most recent trip outside the US was one month in Italy & Scotland in September. I thought I'd stay in Europe longer, but that didn't happen.
This summer I did a four-month US road trip living in my minimalist pickup truck camper.
Blog
For the last 12 months, writing has become my favorite thing to do. I'd been writing for myself for a while, before making the scary decision to share it online in January 2024. Now it feels normal and natural to say what's on my mind.
YouTube
I was consistent for six months, posting one or two videos per week. My blog took a hit while I prioritized getting my channel off the ground in March. I just shifted focus back to writing and to build my new website, which then slowed down my YouTube. I'm learning to navigate this back-and-forth. New videos are in the works!
Drumming
Friends ask me if I'm still playing music. Gigs are on pause, since it's not a priority for me right now, and it's also impossible to travel from place to place lugging around my drums. I miss it more than anything, and sometimes I wake up in the morning drumming in my dreams.
A rant about peanut butter
The best stuff has oil floating on top. Natural peanut butter only contains two ingredients - peanuts and salt. Common peanut butter contains additives like palm oil and added sugar to prevent peanut oils from separating, but this is unhealthy and changes the flavor.
The easy trick to prevent the oil from separating again is to open a fresh jar and stir it up well. Keep your peanut butter in the fridge, and the oil won't separate again.
Natural peanut butter tastes like... peanuts. Common peanut butter tastes like Reese's, which is too sweet! Once you make the switch to natural, give it a few weeks and you won't go back.
How to prepare a pear
I once felt so strongly about this that I added it to a dating app profile. Buy pears - get a lot, like eight pears. Red d'anjou is my personal favorite. Store them on your counter. Let them sit for a few days, until the exterior is ever-so-slightly soft, like an avocado. Then put them in the fridge.
When you have a cold pear, cut it like you would an apple. Eat a slice. Let that soft, juicy sweetness flesh melt in your mouth. You have now experienced the delightful pear in its peak form. Would you swipe right on that?
